Don Gorges Don Gorges __3 years ago Ariel Diaz wrote, $8M in Funding and a Lawsuit to Boot? Game On. __ “It’s been a hell of a year for Boundless. We’ve raised $8 million in new funding, reached thousands of students with our products and innovated in an industry that’s long overdue for disruption. But whenever there’s a great party, there are bound to be crashers. In late March [2012], we were sued by 3 of the world’s largest publishing companies for alleged copyright infringement. Don’t worry—we won’t let the fact that someone slipped a lawsuit in the punchbowl ruin our good time (we have a lot more punch).” _ http://blog.boundless.com/2012/04/8m-in-funding-and-a-lawsuit-to-boot-game-on/   5h ago

Don Gorges Don Gorges __Like me, longtime readers of David’s Blog got the perspective of an Open-though-leader in 2013 with “On Quality and OER“_ http://opencontent.org/blog/archives/2947 _ and here we also get Lumen’s perspective for OER in Community College markets where there is friction with the Faculty’s expectations for “high quality”, friction with the Lumen-guided alternate authoring process, friction with Faculty to create their own OER. _ David’s campaign to _ Stop Saying “High Quality” _ intends to overcome this friction “There has to be a recognition by faculty – if not an admission by publishers – that alternate development processes can result in highly effective educational materials.”   1d ago

Don Gorges Don Gorges __Thanks Paul. Yes, I read this post and am sad for the harassment Audrey is experiencing, “I cry every day, if not because of the threats I get, because of the threats every single female friend of mind receives.” __ like AW, I would never wish this ongoing harassment on anyone, and yet, I can also relate to experiencing feelings of frustration when reading manipulative distortions of facts, like claiming Pearson is spying on Students. Posts written by well-meaning, self-described “Pearson haters” David Wiley/Nicole Allen/Ariel Diaz/David Porter-BCcampus et al. are too often disrespectful distortions of facts.  16d ago

Paul Bradley Paul Bradley Don, I am still catching up/reading up on the backstory to the back and forth on the “Pearson situation”. I hope to understand better the different viewpoints. Regards, Paul. 16d ago
